NONLINEAR is the original. Before most editors had even heard of nonlinear editing, in 1991, Rubin was evangelizing the power of these technologies. By 1995, the Third Edition was a staple of film schools and communications departments worldwide. The fully-expanded Fourth Edition was released for the beginning of 2001.
